Slinky Shananigens

Aug 23, 2009   //   by Zach   //   Uncategorized  //  2 Comments

Chris and I found a slinky around the office and decided to play around with it. I have to say that Chris did an impressive job of throwing the slinky all around the camera without hitting it or my hands. I don’t know if there is a specific job to maximize that skill set but it is definitely worth putting on the resume.

I love this photo. I have always loved this photo…part of it is the mystery and layers within the shot. This was taken a few years back and there was always confusion as to what the viewer is actually looking at…

A lot of people ask if it is a portrait of the man layered with another photo. The answer is yes and no, which is a very common answer in the world pf photography.

The focus of the camera is on a photograph of the musician. The rest of the activity that fills in the frame is the reflection of the glass showing what is opposite of the photo in the room.

Do you have any examples of shots that are not quite what you think they are?

Some shots around the house. Lazy summer days are getting fewer in number. Be sure to enjoy them.

Summer Fun Continued

Aug 8, 2009   //   by Zach   //   Uncategorized  //  No Comments

Not every second of our evening about eating Chinese food and taking shots of Olivia. Jane’s headshots went really well. Jane has a very natural and laid back type of style. When someone is comfortable and relaxed great shots will follow if we photographers don’t screw up.

Chris has been getting into photography more and more so when I wasn’t taking a snapshot attempting to be a model he was learning the camera and snapping some photos of his own. It is really fun to watch people connect with photography and grow as they spend more time with it. The last two shots are done by Chris.

Also, the Zachary Cobb Photography Facebook page just reached 300 fans! Thanks for your support, keep spreading the word.

Summer Fun

Aug 6, 2009   //   by Zach   //   Uncategorized  //  3 Comments

Went to Lee’s Summit this week to help out a friend who needed some head shots for school and career applications she is putting together. We turned it into a fun evening with Megan cooking up an amazing Chinese spread for Chris, Amy, Jane, Olivia and myself. After dinner Jane and I took some time out to do some shots that turned out really well. Chris took some time with my camera shooting everyone which I will write about in a later post but as usual Olivia stole the show. We ran around the back yard and did some shooting. Had a blast.

Thanks to Chris and Megan for such a fun night!

Aug 3, 2009   //   by Zach   //   Uncategorized  //  No Comments

Took a trip around the LightThread office in Screenland Theater and took some shots. Its nice just to get out and spend some time with camera. Not everything has to be some big important job.
