Reaching Into The Photo Archive: Kansas City Public Library
This is an old favorite of mine from 2006, showing off the parking garage to the Kansas City Public Library downtown. Most people at first glance think it is a few books sitting together until I explain to them it is actually the side of a building. We have a great resource in this city in our active library system, go out and see some of the events they have going on or just be like me and take a few hours to explore something you are interested in.
If you are into Kansas City history do not miss the Missouri Valley Special Collections Room on the 5th floor of the downtown branch.
St John Cemetery
Some of the best shots show up on the road. It can be annoying because there isn’t always time to stop and get some shots but that wasn’t the case this time around. On my way home from Thanksgiving in Marshall, MO I stopped at a cemetery that caught my eye off of I-70 at about the 61st mile marker.
I suppose could be considered my homage to the series “6 Feet Under” that used to be on HBO. I was always really impressed with the show visually, its opening sequence was really powerful.

A Night Out
Every now and then I run across a photo where there seems to be a lot of separate things going on at the same time. Love those small moments time. It is always best when nobody knows I am there or if they do they pay me no mind. This is a shot of Hannah playing from Howl at the Moon, a piano bar in Kansas City’s Power + Light District.

Portrait / Fashion Session with Video
Talented area photographer Simon Kuo and I got together to try out some new gear and enjoy a session with Sandy. You couldn’t ask for a better model, Sandy has a really natural and expressive way about her. Had a really good time and got some strong shots. Be sure to check out the video of this session behind the scenes below.

City Market / River Market / Chinese Market
Simon and I took a trip the City Market to snap some shots. This included a walk around the River Market area and some time in a Chinese Market.

Slinky Shananigens
Chris and I found a slinky around the office and decided to play around with it. I have to say that Chris did an impressive job of throwing the slinky all around the camera without hitting it or my hands. I don’t know if there is a specific job to maximize that skill set but it is definitely worth putting on the resume.
